As Long As They Survive We Must Honour All Our Brave Troops Who Serve So Far Away The Hero's Fighting In Iraq To Keep Terrorist's At Bay
They Make The World A Safer Place For People Everywhere So That We Can All Walk Tall And Taste The Freedom Air Our Soldier's In The War Zone Make Us Feel So Proud Let's Honour Every One Of Them And Sing Their Praises Loud
We Ask God To Bless Them And Bring Them Back Alive To Reunite Them With Loved Ones It's Important They Survive But What About The Hero's So Many That Have Died The Honoured Ground Of Arlington Is Now Where They Reside
That Peaceful Place In Washington Where Stand The Graceful Trees And Flowers That Grow For Miles Around Sway Gently In The Breeze For Those Who Are Still Serving In That War Zone Overseas Let's Pray To Keep Them Safe From Harm And Bring Them Home Soon Please

The Mayonaise Jar and Two Cups of coffee
Aug 12, 2008 | 12:38AM
Sweetladybug,I thought of you when I read this.
The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 CUPS OF COFFEE When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 Hours in a day is not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full.. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full.
The students responded with an unanimous "yes."
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table And poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the Empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things - God, family, children, health, friends, and favorite passions -- things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.
The sand is everything else -- the small stuff.
"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
So...
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
"Take care of the golf balls first -- the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked".
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

granny's name
Aug 09, 2008 | 5:29PM
We always got a laugh out of this.My mothers mothers name is Ruby.she passed away about 12 years ago.She still got a laugh when some one heard "her" song and told her story.
She and papaw were arguing about something and she got mad and went out on the front porch, sat in her rocker and rocked away. This song came on the radio and so he reaches over and turns it up.She rocks a little faster. He turns itthe radio up a little more she rocks a little harder. The 3rd or 4th time this happened she burst out laughing.May been the best argument they ever had.Cause after that when ever this song came on the radio papaw would turn it up a little louder and granny would give a little chuckle,,,,,,,,,

Later that night we played the radio."WULS" out of Chicago. This song came on.We snickered about parents and how they didn't understand things today.Little did we Know.Daddy said music was getting to be a bad influence.Listen to this one and see what you think.

with elections coming
Aug 01, 2008 | 11:20PM
I thought I'd do my part
A old man was sitting in the front row at a town meeting, heckling the mayor as he delivered a long speech. Finally the mayor could stand it no longer, so he pointed to the heckler and said, "will that gentleman please stand up and tell the audience what he has ever done for the good of the city." "Well Mr. Mayor," the man said in a firm voice. "I voted against you in the last election."

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting. Well, for example, the other day I went downtown Phoenix and into a shop.
I was only there for about 5 minutes, and when I came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket.
I said to him, 'Come on, man, how about giving a retired pilot person a break?' He ignored me and continued writing the ticket.
I called him a 'Nazi.'
He glared at me and wrote another ticket for having worn tires.
So I called him a 'doughnut eating Gestapo.'
He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he wrote a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes.
The more I abused him the more tickets he wrote.
Personally, I didn't care. I came downtown on the bus, and the car that he was putting the tickets on had a bumper sticker that said, 'Obama in '08.'
I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired. It's important to my mental health.

WHAT DO ANGELS LOOK LIKE?
Like the little old lady who returned ~ your wallet yesterday. Like the taxi driver who told you that your eyes ~ light up the world, when you smile. Like the small child who showed you ~ the wonder in simple things. Like the poor man who offered to ~ share his lunch with you. Like the rich man who showed you that it ~ really is all possible, if only you believe. Like the stranger who just happened to come along, ~ when you had lost your way. Like the friend who touched your heart, ~ when you didn't think you had one to touch. Angels come in all sizes and shapes, ~ all ages and skin types. Some with freckles, some with dimples, ~ some with wrinkles, some without. They come disguised as friends, enemies, ~ teachers, students, lovers and fools. They don't take life too seriously, ~ they travel light. They leave no forwarding address, ~ they ask nothing in return. They wear sneakers with gossamer wings, ~ they get a deal on dry cleaning. They are hard to find when your eyes are closed, But ~ they are everywhere you look, when you choose to see. by Veronica M. Hay (((HUGS)))Marlene

Gift From Oldest Grandson
Jul 25, 2008 | 9:06PM
July 26th is my birthday.LOL!!But here's why I tell you this.Oldest grandson brought me a gift.I felt it should be shared.
It's a picture of a hand holding a buttercup out to a sun beaming down on it.To the side and under it is this poem;God made the roses cause he knew they'd smell so good.
God made the iris's cause he liked them too.
God knew that one day you'd be born
So God made buttercups just for you.
I have put buttercups(daffodils or jonniquils) out here for the last 30 years. One day i was leaving for work(2nd shift,2 till10 pm).Grandkids were all in the yard to tell me bye and as i left they all asked if they could pick some buttercups.I told them yes but, lol,I didn't realise what they meant till i came home at 10.They had filled the little red flyer wagon full.It was setting by the sidewalk.Stopped me in my tracks. But,LOL,what could I do.Gathered them all up and fillid a big vase with water for my hand picked center piece.Found out later they had already given their moms their bunch of flowers.
One time in my life that I really just stopped and smelled the flowers.Or should I say, this is the time I realised I needed to stop and smell the flowers!!LOL!!((hugs))
